It is a touchscreen, but your should use a stylus of some kind instead of your fingers to avoid smearing the screen. The display on the kindle is amazing, with fantastic detail and a rainbow of color. I highly recommend the kindle fire for people who want something to do on the go, or even just as a quick source of entertainment.
